E-Bike Condition Guidelines
EbikeSeller uses a simple, standardised condition system so buyers know what they’re getting, and sellers know how to list honestly.
You’ll choose a main Condition (what type of listing it is), then you’ll grade the bike using a few quick attributes:
Cosmetic Condition, Motor Status, Battery Health, and Bike Components / Drivetrain Condition.
If you’re unsure, pick the lower grade and explain the details clearly in your listing description.

2) Cosmetic Condition (A–D)
A — Like new
- Minimal marks, very tidy overall
- No obvious scratches, dents or corrosion
B — Light cosmetic marks
- Small scuffs or marks from normal use/handling
- Nothing that affects riding or safety
C — Visible wear
- Scratches, paint wear, or noticeable marks
- Still presentable, but clearly used
D — Heavy cosmetic damage
- Deep scratches, major paint damage, dents, heavy corrosion, or cracked plastics
- Cosmetic issues may indicate hard use, so buyers should check mechanical grades closely
3) Motor Status
Working Normally
- Motor assists smoothly with no unusual noises
- No cut-outs, error codes, or intermittent power
Faulty (please describe fault)
- Error codes, cut-outs, grinding noises, no assistance, or intermittent power
- Seller should describe the fault clearly and include photos/video if possible
4) Battery Health (A–D)
A — Excellent
- Near original capacity and strong real-world range
- Holds charge well and performs as expected
B — Good
- Minor capacity loss, still good range for most riders
- Normal for a used e-bike
C — Reduced range but usable
- Noticeably less range than new
- Still usable for shorter commutes/leisure rides
D — Battery faulty or replacement recommended
- Won’t hold charge properly, cuts out early, or range is very poor
- Buyer should budget for repair, re-celling, or replacement
5) Bike Components / Drivetrain Condition (A–D)
A — Excellent mechanical condition
- Drivetrain, brakes and bearings feel tight and well maintained
- Likely serviced recently or lightly used
B — Good with normal wear
- Everything works properly with typical used-bike wear
- May need routine maintenance in future (pads, chain, tyres)
C — Noticeable wear but fully functional
- Chain/cassette/tyres may be worn but still usable
- Brakes may need attention soon
- Everything should still function safely if graded correctly
D — Significant wear or mechanical issues
- Worn drivetrain, poor braking, knocking bearings, wheel issues, suspension problems, or safety concerns
- Likely needs workshop attention or replacement parts
Important Notes for Buyers and Sellers
- Sellers: be honest and specific. If something isn’t right, say so clearly.
- Buyers: check the grades together. A tidy-looking bike can still have a tired battery, and vice versa.
- Include clear photos of the drivetrain, battery, display, motor area, and any marks or damage.
- If you’re unsure, choose the lower grade and explain the details in the listing description.
