Do you service your e-bike yourself or take it to a bike shop?

I'm interested to know how much maintenance everyone does on their own e-bike.

Most of the normal jobs aren't really any different from a regular bicycle. Things like replacing brake pads, chains, cassettes, tyres and cables can all be done at home with a few basic tools.

The electrical side is where things can get more complicated, particularly with Bosch, Shimano, Yamaha and other systems that may need diagnostic software for certain faults or updates.

How much work do you do yourself?

Do you handle all the normal mechanical maintenance and leave the motor and electrics to a dealer, or do you prefer to have everything professionally serviced?

It would also be interesting to hear from anyone who's struggled to find a local bike shop willing to work on their e-bike, particularly if it was bought online or uses a less common motor system.
