How do I ship a used e-bike in the UK?
Quote from amtcouriers@googlemail.com on 15 September 2026, 11:19 AMShipping a used e-bike can be a bit of a minefield, particularly if you've sold one to somebody at the other end of the country.
Unlike a normal bicycle, you've got the added complication of the lithium battery. Many standard parcel couriers either won't accept e-bike batteries or have restrictions on how they can be transported.
Then there's the bike itself. Finding a suitable box, removing the pedals, turning or removing the handlebars and protecting the frame properly can be quite a job if you've never done it before.
So, what's the best way to get a used e-bike to its new owner?
Is it better to box it and use a specialist service, arrange collection with a bike transporter, or simply sell collection-only?
I'd also be interested to hear from anyone who's shipped an e-bike successfully. Who did you use, how much did it cost and did the bike arrive safely?
We've put together a more detailed guide on how to ship a second-hand e-bike in the UK, including the different options and the issues around transporting lithium batteries.
