How do you work out what a used e-bike is worth?
Pricing a used e-bike can be surprisingly difficult.
With a normal bike, you can usually get a reasonable idea by looking at its age, condition and what similar bikes are selling for. With an e-bike, you've also got the battery, motor, mileage and original purchase price to consider.
I've seen older e-bikes advertised for surprisingly strong money simply because they were expensive when new. At the other end of the scale, there are sometimes perfectly good bikes being sold cheaply because the owner just wants them gone.
How do you decide what a used e-bike is actually worth?
Do you start with the original retail price and deduct a percentage for age, or simply look at comparable bikes currently for sale?
And how much difference should things like battery health, mileage, service history and cosmetic condition make?
I'd also be interested to know whether people think certain motor systems or brands hold their value better than others.
